Welcome to the Austin Academy 6th grade science website. This site was set up and designed as a resource for 6th grade science classes at Austin Academy. It does not seem like we should be talking about the end of the school year, but here we are in May!!! We are currently in our last unit of study - Ecology. The enduring understanding for this unit includes: Responses of organisms are caused by internal and external stimuli. Organisms respond to the biotic and abiotic factors in their environment. Food chains and food webs indicate the energy flow in an ecosystem. The decay of biomass is an important process in the recyling of materials for ecosystems. Our semester test schedule will be as follows: - Tuesday, June 2: Exam in 7th period.
- Wednesday, June 3: Exams in periods 1, 4, and 2. (Early dismissal at 2:00)
- Thursday, June 4: Exams in periods 3, 5, and 6. (Early dismissal at 2:00)
Remember, anytime you need additional help, please make arrangements to attend our tutorials. We meet Monday afternoons from 3:50 until 4:50 and Wednesdays from 8:00 until 8:40. Let's have a great ending to a great year!! Anne Alford Debra Montague aealford@garlandisd.net dlmontag@garlandisd.net
